Come See Our History...
Everyone loves a good story! Welcome to a Museum of stories, histories, remembrances, & tributes; who honor those who settled this area, who fought to keep our home safe and free, those who fought for their freedom, and those who brought us through two centuries of change.
Come glimpse segments of our past, from the early settlements and farming, to plantations and growth industries of cotton, lumber and rice. Recall the transportation age, with street cars, steamboats, train and after World War I, aviation. Witness the post-war commercial growth of local industries with the Arsenal, International Paper Company and NCTR.
We honor our service men and women from the Civil War, World War I & II, Korea, and Vietnam, in a permanent exhibition, rotating the objects.
Check our website for the changing exhibitions schedule. Coming soon: Black History of Jefferson County and School Days, remembering the schools and children from the county through our history. Help us tell our story – can you add information, images, and objects, share your collections with us, and contribute to our oral history project!
